Employment Opportunity

The Village of Phelps is accepting applications for a full-time seasonal laborer position within their Department of Public Works.  Pay based on experience and qualifications.  References required.  Experience preferred but not mandatory. 

Typical work activities include but not limited to: 

·       collects and disposes of rubbish;

·       cuts grass, trims shrubs, rakes leaves, spades flower beds and assists in ground maintenance activities.   Grounds maintenance includes such duties as:  mowing, raking or watering grass with a variety of mowers and weed hackers; planting and maintaining grass, shrubs, plants or trees; maintaining playgrounds.

·       Performs general building and grounds cleaning tasks.    

This is routine manual work requiring physical endurance and a willingness to perform arduous tasks.  The work is performed under general direction of a higher-level public works employee.  The work may involve other duties in the Public Works Department.
